Ch 8: The Devil Arrives

Cape Town, South Africa

Palki sat on the cold bench at the edge of the park.

Traces of dried tears still marked her cheeks, but her eyes had stopped crying now. They were dry… almost empty.

She stared ahead into the endless darkness, her gaze lost somewhere far beyond the quiet streets of Cape Town.

The night air was cold.

The park had grown silent.

Yet inside her mind, chaos refused to settle.

Questions.

Confusion.

Pain.

For years, she had imagined this moment.

She had always believed that one day she would escape from Miransh and return to Cape Town.

Return to the city where her childhood memories were buried.

But now that she was finally here…

She realized something she had never thought about before.

What was she supposed to do now?

She had planned the escape.

But she had never planned what came after it.

Her eyes slowly drifted across the quiet park.

That was when she noticed a small movement.

A cat ran across the pathway, holding a fish tightly in its mouth.

Palki’s attention shifted toward it.

Curious, she quietly followed the cat.

After walking for a few minutes, the cat finally stopped near a small corner beside a bush.

There, three tiny kittens were waiting.

The moment they saw their mother, they rushed toward her, meowing softly.

The cat gently placed the fish in front of them.

The kittens immediately began eating, their tiny bodies huddled close together.

Palki stood there silently, watching the small family.

Something inside her chest tightened.

A tear slipped down her cheek.

A mother’s love…

It existed everywhere.

No matter the species.

Every living creature needed its mother.

If her own mother had been with her…

If she had never lost her…

Maybe her life would have been completely different.

Maybe she wouldn’t have been wandering through strange cities searching for answers.

Maybe she wouldn’t feel this lonely.

Maybe…

She wouldn’t feel this broken.

It didn’t matter how strong, smart, or brave she tried to be.

At this moment—

She was just a daughter who missed her mother.

Palki quickly wiped her tears.

Then she quietly removed her leather jacket.

Walking closer, she gently placed it over the small cat family, shielding them from the cold night wind.

The kittens continued eating peacefully under the warm cover.

For a few moments, Palki simply sat there, watching them.

A faint softness appeared in her eyes.

But suddenly—

The sound of footsteps broke the silence.

Palki immediately became alert.

Her body stiffened.

She slowly turned—

But before she could react—

A strong hand grabbed her from behind.

A handkerchief was pressed tightly against her nose and mouth.

Palki’s eyes widened in shock.

She struggled instantly.

The sharp smell hit her nose.

Medicine.

Her mind reacted quickly.

Chloroform.

Her heartbeat raced as she fought against the man’s grip.

She twisted, pushed, and struggled with all her strength.

But the man’s hold was strong.

Realizing brute force wouldn’t work—

Palki made a quick decision.

Her body slowly relaxed.

Her movements stopped.

She let her head fall slightly to the side, pretending to lose consciousness.

The man waited a few seconds.

Once he was convinced she had fainted, his grip loosened slightly.

That was the moment Palki had been waiting for.

In a sudden movement—

She ripped the handkerchief away from her face and swung her arm backward with full force.

Her fist landed straight on the man’s nose.

CRACK.

The man fell back onto the ground, clutching his nose as he cried out in pain.

Palki shook her head in disbelief.

“Seriously?” she muttered under her breath.

She turned quickly, ready to leave the area.

But before she could take more than a step—

CLANG.

A heavy metal rod struck the back of her head.

Pain exploded through her skull.

Her vision blurred instantly.

“Mumma…”

The word slipped weakly from her lips.

Then the world around her faded into darkness.

Her body collapsed onto the cold road.

Unconscious.

Maurya Mansion, India

The next morning at Maurya Mansion felt unusually heavy.

A strange tension lingered in the air.

What had happened the previous night still felt unreal — like a dramatic scene straight out of a movie. Yet everyone in the mansion had witnessed it with their own eyes.

Palki had escaped.

And none of them had seen it coming.

Vihaan sat quietly on the sofa, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. His expression looked troubled, his mind clearly replaying the events again and again.

Across the room, Tia kept checking her phone every few seconds.

Every notification made her heart jump for a moment.

But each time, disappointment followed.

None of them were from Palki.

Ivana, already dressed for college, stood near the staircase. But instead of leaving, she seemed lost in her own thoughts.

Finally, she broke the silence.

“Bestie is amazing,” she said with a grin.

“What a mind-blowing plan she made to escape! I’m honestly impressed.”

She shook her head in admiration.

“She’s incredible.”

Vihaan sighed deeply.

“I knew about that mask-maker artist,” he admitted.

“But even I couldn’t imagine that Palki would plan something like this.”

Just then—

Miransh entered the living room.

He was on a call.

Everyone’s eyes instantly turned toward him.

Tia quickly walked up to him, waiting anxiously for him to finish.

Miransh noticed her but continued listening for a moment.

Then he said calmly into the phone,

“Keep it ready. We’re leaving for South Africa.”

He ended the call.

Before Tia could even ask anything, he spoke first.

“Don’t worry,” he said in a steady voice.

“I’ll bring her back.”

A wave of relief passed through Tia’s face.

At least someone knew what to do.

Ivana suddenly rushed toward him, excitement sparkling in her eyes.

“Bhai!” she said eagerly.

“Can I come with you? I also want to go to South Africa. Please?”

She made dramatic puppy eyes.

Miransh looked at her coldly.

“Go to your college.”

Ivana instantly made an annoyed face.

Without saying another word, she marched straight to Vihaan and hugged him tightly like a little child who had just been scolded.

Tia and Vihaan both smiled at her childish reaction.

Then Tia turned back to Miransh.

“But Miransh,” she asked worriedly, “how will you even find her there?”

Miransh took out his phone and showed the screen.

“I’ll track her,” he said calmly.

“Right now she is—”

He suddenly stopped.

His eyes froze on the screen.

His brows slowly knitted together.

Tension appeared on his face.

Tia immediately noticed the change.

“What happened?” she asked anxiously.

Miransh stared at the screen in confusion.

“Her location… is showing outside South Africa.”

Everyone froze.

“And it’s still moving.”

“What?” they all exclaimed in shock.

The room fell into a stunned silence.

This was impossible.

Everyone knew that after leaving India, Palki would go straight to Cape Town — to the apartment where she had spent her childhood.

But now…

Her location was already outside the country.

Tia felt her heart sink.

“But why would she leave South Africa?” she whispered.

No one answered.

Then suddenly—

“Oh God…” Tia gasped.

“What if she’s in danger?”

Her voice trembled with fear.

Vihaan immediately stepped closer to her, trying to calm her down.

“Relax,” he said gently.

“Miransh is tracking her through a thing.”

He paused before adding,

“Maybe the thing got lost somewhere.”

“That’s also possible.”

“Don’t panic for no reason.”

But Tia still looked uneasy.

“If the thing is lost,” she said worriedly, “that’s still a problem.”

She looked at Miransh.

“That thing is the only way we can track her.”

“If we lose that…”

“How will we ever find her?”

This time—

Vihaan had no answer.

Miransh’s eyes remained fixed on the moving dot on the map.

His mind began analyzing every possibility.

Every route.

Every direction.

Then suddenly—

He froze.

The direction of the moving signal became clear.

His eyes widened slightly.

The location was heading toward one place.

Dubai.

A memory flashed in his mind.

The upcoming auction.

Pieces of information suddenly connected like fragments of a puzzle falling into place.

Miransh’s expression darkened.

She’s in danger.

The realization struck him instantly.

His mind sounded the alarm.

Evening — Dubai, UAE

A dim yellow bulb flickered weakly from the ceiling of the dark room.

The air smelled of chemicals and damp concrete.

Several girls lay scattered across the cold floor.

All of them were unconscious.

Their bodies were motionless, as if they had been thrown there like lifeless objects.

Among those unfamiliar faces—

One face stood out.

Palki.

She lay on the floor with her eyes closed, completely unaware of where she was or what had happened.

For a long time, the room remained silent.

Then slowly—

A faint movement.

One of the girls stirred.

Another shifted weakly.

Gradually, a few of them began waking up.

The moment they opened their eyes and looked around, confusion turned into horror.

“Where are we?”

“Who brought us here?”

“Help! Somebody help!”

Panic spread instantly.

The girls began crying and shouting desperately, their voices echoing against the cold walls.

But the room gave them no answers.

No help came.

The noise slowly reached Palki’s fading consciousness.

Her body twitched slightly.

Her fingers moved.

The voices around her pulled her back toward reality.

Her head throbbed painfully.

She tried to open her eyes—

But her vision remained dark and heavy.

Her body felt weak, as if every ounce of strength had been drained from it.

Then—

The metal door creaked open.

Three men walked inside.

They looked at the chaotic scene with irritation.

One of them clicked his tongue.

“We should drug them again,” he said coldly.

“Otherwise they’ll keep screaming like this.”

Another man nodded in agreement.

Without hesitation, they shut the door behind them and walked toward the girls.

The crying grew louder.

“No! Please don’t—”

But the men showed no mercy.

They began injecting the girls one by one with a drug.

Within seconds, the girls’ bodies weakened again.

Their voices faded.

One by one, they collapsed back into unconsciousness.

Palki lay still, silently witnessing everything.

Her mind was awake.

But her body refused to obey her.

Her head pounded painfully, making it difficult to think clearly.

Soon the men reached her.

One of them prepared the syringe.

He was about to inject the drug—

But another man stopped him.

“Leave her,” he said casually.

“She doesn’t need it.”

He smirked slightly.

“We don’t need to be scared of her.”

Palki struggled to open her eyes.

Her vision slowly blurred into shapes.

She could barely see their faces.

One of the men looked at her more carefully.

“Hey,” he said suddenly.

“I know her.”

The others looked at him.

“She’s an Indian singer.”

The second man let out a low whistle.

“Really?”

He looked at Palki again, examining her from head to toe.

“Wow… such a beautiful girl.”

“A beautiful face… a perfect figure…”

“And she’s a singer too.”

He chuckled darkly.

“We’ll get a very good price for her.”

Three men laughed.

Satisfied with their work, the men turned and walked out of the room.

The door slammed shut behind them.

Silence returned.

Inside the room—

Palki slowly forced herself to move.

Pain shot through her head.

She groaned softly and pushed herself into a sitting position, clutching her head.

Her breathing was uneven.

But she refused to give up.

As she looked around the dim room, she noticed one of the unconscious girls wearing a scarf.

Slowly, carefully, Palki reached out and took the scarf.

She wrapped it tightly around her head, hoping to reduce the pounding pain.

For a moment, she closed her eyes and tried to steady her breathing.

Fear lingered in the room.

But inside her—

Something stronger was rising.

Determination.

She whispered to herself softly,

“This… cannot be my end.”

Her fingers tightened around the scarf.

No matter what happened—

She would survive.

The Underground Auction

The night sky above Dubai glittered with luxury and wealth.

Tall skyscrapers shone like diamonds under the city lights. Luxury cars moved smoothly along the wide roads, and the city looked as glamorous as ever.

But beneath that shining beauty…

Something far darker was happening.

On the outskirts of the city stood a massive private villa, hidden behind tall walls and heavy security.

From the outside, it looked like a high-profile private event.

Luxury cars stopped one after another at the grand entrance.

Black Rolls-Royces.

Bulletproof SUVs.

Imported sports cars.

Powerful men stepped out of them.

Some wore expensive suits.

Some had bodyguards surrounding them.

Others had dangerous reputations that made even bodyguards unnecessary.

These were not ordinary guests.

They were the shadows that ruled the underground world.

Mafia bosses.

Crime lords.

Arms dealers.

Human traffickers.

Some were known internationally.

Some had never shown their faces in public before.

But tonight—

They had all gathered in one place.

Because tonight’s auction was special.

Inside the villa, the atmosphere was completely different.

The hall was enormous.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting golden light across the room. Velvet chairs were arranged neatly in rows facing a large stage.

A long glass table displayed bottles of expensive whiskey and wine.

Soft classical music played in the background.

It looked elegant.

But the conversations happening in the room were anything but elegant.

“Did you hear? The items tonight are rare.”

“I heard some politicians are also bidding secretly.”

“They say the main item hasn’t even been revealed yet.”

Low murmurs filled the hall as the guests waited.

Security guards stood everywhere, heavily armed and alert.

No one entered without strict verification.

No cameras.

No phones.

No mistakes.

This auction existed in a world where laws had no power.

Suddenly—

The lights dimmed slightly.

The murmuring stopped.

A man in a perfectly tailored suit walked onto the stage.

His smile was polite.

But his eyes were cold.

“Esteemed guests,” he said smoothly.

“Welcome to tonight’s private auction.”

His voice echoed through the silent hall.

“Tonight… we present items that cannot be bought anywhere else in the world.”

A few guests chuckled knowingly.

Everyone understood what that meant.

The host smiled slightly wider.

“Let the auction begin.”

The stage lights brightened.

The illegal auction had already begun.

The room buzzed with low conversations, quiet laughter, and the clinking of crystal glasses.

But outside the villa—

A sleek black car slowly rolled to a stop near the entrance.

The engine went silent.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then the door opened.

A man stepped out.

He adjusted his coat calmly before removing his dark glasses.

The moment his eyes were revealed—

A cruel, chilling expression appeared on his face.

His presence alone carried an unsettling authority, the kind that made even experienced criminals cautious.

The guards at the entrance immediately straightened, recognizing the importance of the man who had just arrived.

This was no ordinary guest.

This was the Mafia king.

Manav.

The man responsible for countless crimes hidden in the shadows.

The man who had coldly murdered Jharna and Ivaan.

The man whose name had haunted Miransh for years.

The man Miransh had been chasing across countries and continents.

The man who was Miransh’s biological father.
